Rehousing Collections—When recovering documents and manuscripts, be sure to maintain the original order of the files. Box and folder information can be penciled onto slips of paper and kept with the records. Documents shown here were only damp around the edges, so they could be dried in one stack. Archival boxes and folders, as well as sleeves, book plates, and other enclosures or labels may need to be replaced once collections have been dried and cleaned. All identification information must be copied to the new enclosure or label.
